Lame. We're big Peppa fans in our house and I thought this would have a good lesson for our toddler, but the examples of "sharing" aren't great and the author misses the obvious chance to have the older kids share the merry go round and instead focuses on a stupid example of giving both dinosaurs to one child, leaving the other pig/rabbit with nothing. Why? That's a terrible idea when they both have dinosaurs. Either have them switch dinos or let them play side by side. It's not even about taking turns, it's weird. In the end, the happy resolution is when George and Richard play on the seesaw together, which really isn't sharing anything. The book really should be named, "learning to play nicely together" because that seems to be the main focus/lesson.

Really nice book...well written for young children. My 2 year old granddaughter understands this well and we are able to reference back to it when situations arise about sharing. Good illustrations also.

Uses great examples for sharing, great way to teach children to share. Short/long enough & straightforward to hold 17-month’s attention.

I had invested time and money into that plant, little knowing that daylilies and hostas are deer favorites.I recently took this book to the garden store and came home with lantanas, coreopsis, snapdragons and an abelia bush. So far, so good. Previous purchases of echinacea and marigolds have gone well.This a comprehensive book that discusses other animal problems as well as deer.Still, the section on deer and deer resistant plants is more informative than other books on the subject. There are nice descriptions of the deer-resistant plants in the back, with lovely illustrations and plant profiles.

The title of this book understates what it provides. It is about much more than deer -- rats, voles, woodchucks, and many other animals are covered. Usually when I research a problem varmint, I find either natural history (animal habit info) or pest control information. I rarely find the two integrated together as they are in this book. I own an Audubon Society book on mammals, which is good to understand how they live in the wild, but not so good when figuring out my control options. Usually I bypass deer control books (nothing new under the sun) but this book - containing so much more info - caught my eye.Neil Soderstrom provides facts and insights for understanding the history and habits of the animal one is dealing with, and provides control and management options for real-world situations.I think highly enough of this book that I gave it as a gift to a wildlife control professional I know.It is a thorough effort and well worth owning. It is not a superficial treatment that you can pick up in a quick scan while standing in a book store -- much more effort and substance has gone into this book. I heard Soderstrom speak and clearly he was completely immersed in understanding his subject matter. I do recommend this book.

Sadly I no longer see rabbits as bunnies or deer as Bambis, and decency precludes me from saying how I refer to raccoons. Now I see varmints but everybody's gotta to eat, so we try to find ways to discourage over-harvesting & the destruction of garden areas. This book helped a great deal not just with prevention but understanding the whys and hows. Recommend this book for solutions for gardeners such as myself, who depend upon what we grow. Perhaps Mr. Soderstrom could write a book for the varmints on how to avoid territorial two legged pests.

Never having dealt with deer or gophers before we moved to a new place with signs of both, I felt like this book did a great job of explaining about the critter and its ways and habits, then gave an overview of techniques for dealing with them. I suspect there's not enough depth and detail if you are in a serious ongoing war - and these are hard problems, I didn't come away with much optimism that it was going to be easy! but I think this is a great reference to have when you need to get started, realistic about the seriousness, and it covers a good number of possible pest animals.

This has been helpful in planning my landscaping and garden against a deer problem.

Herds of deer cruise through our neighborhood munching on everything they can. This book not only explains what deer prefer and what they avoid, but gives a great overview of wildlife habits and natural habitat. The children in this family love the book for all the information they can learn about their home. Lots of pictures and lots of interesting facts and tips.

Very useful book for our new home. It's still a great reference two years after moving, helping us make safe landscaping decisions.

Shame on Oxford Publications- While reading ONLY the 'view inside this book" link, I saw 2-3 typos! I have an editorial eye, I admit, but caliber of writing is so poor, I was shocked. I won't be buying it.

Lots of great info in this atlas but I was very irritated with the maps. Not enough of them and important map details were often hidden in the crease. I should have looked for an earlier edition. Also it didn’t have a gazetteer that other editions seem to have.

Seems short of objective content. This edition is newer. Maybe it's riding on the coattails of its predecessor?

I'm really enjoying this book. It's much more than an Atlas. It has a lot of information. Well done.

This Atlas was disappointing, first because the print is too tiny to read, and when you pinch to zoom in, it all becomes blurred. Secondly, the maps themselves provide little detailed information. On my device the map appears on one side of what is mainly a blank page. There was plenty of room for labels, but none were given. The Roman numeral labels are explained in narratives several pages away, with no links to take you back to the map. For example, the map for the period of Joshua and Judges could have labels, showing where Deborah fought Sisera, where Gideon tested his men by watching how they drank water, and where Samson fought the Philistines. Instead you are only given the general divisions of the 12 tribes, and impossible-to-read city names. I wish there was a map of the Jezreel Valley, and the surrounding hills, labeling Mt. Carmel, Gilboa etc. so the reader can see the significance of that area. There should be a map highlighting the distance from Bozrah to Armageddon, one of the Sea of Galilee making the major points of the Lord's ministry. None of these are offered.

I like this author, I find the books to be pretty funny in parts which is nice. But, after reading like 3 of her books, I'm noticing a lot of patterns to the stories. There is always a surprise pregnancy even after the couple uses condoms. There is always a fight right before the woman can tell him shes pregnant that drags out that part. I guess overall, the stories are more interesting and less cheesy than other romance writers which is why I like them, there is a good plot. But some of the interactions are getting boring and predictable in each book. Let's try and use some different phrases and situations instead of the surprise pregnancy thing all the time.

Joy is an aspiring dancer, working as a waitress and living with her mother. Braden is a successful business man who is trying to advance his company and turn it into an app. When the two meet, Braden can’t take his eyes off of Joy, she is a beautiful dancer and he is drawn to her. Through circumstances that are somewhat out of his control, Braden needs a fake fiancé, and Joy is who he thinks can handle the job. Joy has some issues of her own, and with what Braden is offering she may be able to finally make her dreams come true. When a wrench is thrown in, can the both Joy and Braden admit their feelings, or will they stay alone forever?I have to say that I greatly appreciate that this book isn’t your typical cookie cutter romance. There is some suspense thrown in, that makes this book a page turner. I needed to know how things were going to turn out for everyone involved. Aubrey has a way of pulling the reader in, and like I said her books aren’t your typical romance. I do hope that Aubrey gives us some more of Liam and Kendra in another book because I definitely think there is a story there!

Fake fiancé themes seem to be all the rage, at the moment, with romance authors - fortunately for ME! I especially enjoy that troupe, and author Aubrey Wright pens one that is sure to please. In this entertaining short, both Brandon and Joy are characters that would seem to benefit from this type of arrangement. Brandon is already successful, but envisions his matchmaking service as an application. While Joy, is a beautiful dancer who longs to attend a prestigious dancing school. Two people with a vision, who didn't plan for the detour that is love. Great relatable characters, suspense, intrigue and tons of passion and steam. "Mr. Fake Fiance," by Aubrey Wright, is a steamy romance, that romance readers are sure to enjoy. I received this book as an ARC and I volunteered this review.

Joy and Braden make a hot couple. Braden is a matchmaker who is somewhat afraid of love for himself due to tragedy. He’s amazing at what he does but to move forward in his career, Braden needs a wife or at least fake fiancée. Joy is an aspiring dancer who makes ends meet by waitressing and living with her mom. Joy is miserable with her mom who expects Joy to take care of her and go ignore all of her dreams and aspiration. When Joy and Braden meet, sparks immediately fly. There is an attraction there. Each has seen each other at work and are impressed. They decide to help one another by going into a fake engagement. Watching them fall for one another is sweet. Their love scenes are quite steamy. This book had everything from steamy love scenes, awww moments where you can see these two start to fall in love, and an element of danger from a obsessed fan who won’t give up. This was a great book. I received an ARC and I’m volunteering my opinion freely.

Dr. Love and a pole dancer? Perfect! I love a good fake fiancé book. This book had a cute premise with a little bit of a twist since the MC is a matchmaker. Think Tony Robbins offering how to fall in love seminars.I would have given it four stars, but I wanted more from the characters. I thought Braden was underdeveloped. I could have easily fallen in love with him if given just a little bit more...This was my first book by Aubrey Wright, and I found her writing style easy to read and enjoyable.I was lucky enough to get this book for free, and this is my honest review.

I absolutely loved this book! The characters were raw and real. There are so many people out there that have a negative look on love and marriage and this book focuses on just that. Joy and Braden each have their own issues and share a similar thought towards love. They enter into a fake engagement both for their own gain. What starts off as fake slowly starts to be tested by their natural chemistry, but both of them resist their feelings in fear of heartbreak. I love that their feelings come from the result of real life experiences that people have. I have to say that I really don't like Joy's mom and the manipulative guilt trip she always gives Joy. I know there's really people out there that do that to people and I just couldn't imagine ever wanting to continue helping someone like that, even if it is your mom. Aubrey is a wonderful story teller and had me soaking up the words faster than my eyes could move. This was my first book of Aubrey Wright and I can't wait to snatch up the rest of her books and all her future endeavors. I highly recommend you give Joy and Braden's story a chance.

I love these books and they are sent in great condition.

I grew up reading this series and loved every one I could lay my hands on. Not having children of my own, I delight in giving them to my tutoring students as I can use the books to spark their taste for history. Houdini was enjoyed by my 7YO nephew as part of his "Prevent Summer Brain Rot" assignments and my 67YO mother, whose Kindle died.The book was pristine, the shipping was prompt, and the price was indeed right. I hope to buy from this series again.

Not my favorite in the series, because I don't like magic. But kids read for fun and homeschool. We love all the rest that we've read so far from this series.

No doubt, that infection has mutated more than once, and is resistant to several, or all, antibiotics. Hospitals need to do a better job in ensuring that instruments, catheter tubes and doctor's hands are properly cleaned or sterilized ahead of time. It seems to be standard hospital practice to give all new patients a shot of broad-spectrum antibiotics, regardless of their infection. This is done without medical testing to see if a different antibiotic is "made" for that infection. It took longer to boil an egg." The text of the speech appears at the end of the book. Fritz's narrative has a strong, fresh appeal. However, there's a lack of specificity in some of the details and a somewhat annoying quantity of sentence fragments. Several archival photographs are interspersed with Robinson's attractive, realistic watercolors. But while it is stated that the crowd is to have numbered 20,000 at Gettysburg, the illustrations give the impression of a much smaller group. A map, which shows the North and South in blue and gray respectively, doesn't include state names. Also, no sources are listed. While readers will certainly enjoy the very human portrayal of Lincoln, it is doubtful whether the larger historical issues will be made clear to them. Since my Kindergartener (age five-and-a-half) had completed the Step 2 books in the Step Into Reading series of books, I decided to go ahead and purchase the Step 3 books. I was a bit hesitant because I noticed there is quite a big leap between the Step 2 and Step 3 books, especially in terms of vocabulary and sentence structure. The vocabulary is more advanced with higher order words, and the sentences are longer. I was also concerned that my daughter might not like the topics which seemed to be more 'academic' with history-based stories. My worries were unfounded. She loves the books and is reading them with very little help from me.These books are excellent for building children's reading skills as well as increasing their confidence. Once you've completed the Step 1 and Step 2 books (I would advise proceeding level by level), the Step 3 books are not as daunting as they might first appear. In "Abe Lincoln's Hat", young readers are introduced to our 16th President. There is a lot of background information provided which makes for interesting reading, and it is pitched appropriately for young readers so as not to overwhelm them. The fact that Abe used his tall black hat to keep papers in is an interesting anecdote that had my little one giggling.I can't recommend these books highly enough - they are great for building reading skills, and also educational. This book is a great introduction to history, and I also came up with a series of short comprehension questions based on the story in this book so as to hone my daughter's comprehension skills (e.g. "Where did Abe live?", "What did Abe do with his hat?", "Describe the kind of person Abe was?").

I had this book in my school library and have given at least 5 copies to grand and great grandchildren. They all loved this story about Abe.

This is an interesting story of Abraham Lincoln and his years of being an attorney. It speaks of his character of fairness and to his sometimes disorganization (misplacing important information). Very humanizing and humorous.

The book is a little long for early childhood children and it's a small size book. I thought it would be larger in size.

My first grade class loved this. It has some standard information as well as a more personal side of Abraham Lincoln.

First, let me start by saying that I have read many home brewing books.There are some basic texts - like "How to Brew" by John Palmer and "Complete Joy of Homebrewing" by Charlie Papazian.Then there are many highly specialized books - such as Malt, Yeast, Water, Hops series, or Radical Homebrewing (by Mosher and Jackson) and Experimental Homebrewing by Beechum and Conn and every book by Hironimous (on Hops, on Belgian Monk style beers, on American beers and on Wheat beers) - specific books on sour beers (Tonsmeire), wild brews (Sparrow), vintage beer, IPAs, etc.There are recipe books like 80 recipes by Zainasheff and Palmer, Homebrew All-stars by Beechum and Conn, there are historical books - a million on craft beer - like history of Achor Steam and Sierra Nevada, but also on IPA history by Steele, and Stouts/Porters by someone I can't recall right now, etc.There are books with more academic/scientifc explanations like the ones by Bamforth. There are books on how to taste beers, how to pair them with food, etc.I own and read all of the books above.If I had to limit myself to just one reference book - or recommend just a single book to a brewer - a newcomer, or even someone who has brewing for a year or a few years, I would recommend Randy Mosher's "Mastering Homebrew".As a somewhat advanced home brewer with scientific background, I am no longer satisfied by simple instructional books that tell you what to do but do not explain the reasons for doing so. Mosher goes out of his way to explain you the *reasons* you need to take specific steps in your brewing process, not shying from some basic science behind it. This means you are not just following some instructions or recipe design that someone else put together for you, but the book encourages and gives you the skills to become knowledgeable enough to develop your own ideas and your own recipes, your own techniques etc. The books is much more open-minded and is designed to develop, teach and cultivate the best home brewer inside of you. Yes, there are technical skills and details you need to learn but the book focuses on the big picture - like understanding what each component of recipe does for the final product. This is done here much better than any other book I have seen.And even technical details are highly relevant - for example, description of kegging is something that I suspect majority of modern home brewers do - yet very few (almost none!) books describe it at all. This book does it in great detail, as well as bottling, beer transfer and aging, primary vs. secondary, hop styles and utilization, yeast types and propagation, mash procedures, malting process, unusual ingredients etc. All of it is done with common illustration - there is a figure or a chart or a photo or a schematic or a table for almost every other page of the book, and this really helps to understand and adsorb a lot of material in a fairly short period of time. It also makes for a great reference book down the road!Perhaps it's my scientific approach, but the diagrams, plots and charts are extremely useful in understanding some of the complexities involved in issues such as variety of hops or malt, flavor/bitterness/aroma, or even basic history of ale, lagers and craft brewing.The book does an excellent job at covering essentially ALL of the beer styles I can think of (and many I don't think much about) in a way that clearly spells out the differences, without making it seem like a rigid orthodoxy - in fact it keeps encouraging readers to experiment and come up with new unexpected styles or ingredients, throughout the book.The recipe part of the book is the highlight, in my opinion, as it teaches not just WHAT to put in a recipe, but also WHY you are putting each ingredient with ultimate goal of developing independently thinking brewers who are not afraid to modify existing recipes and come up with their own. This is done in a fashion unlike any book I have ever read before.But another major highlight especially for beginning and intermediate brewer is the "troubleshooting" section which summarizes and identifies major problems with home-brew outcomes and suggests the symptomatic issues that are likely the cause of the problem.If you ever watched any of the interviews with Randy Mosher (especially from BeerSmith podcast) it is clear he really really know what he is talking about, and it comes from decades of passionate research -whether he is talking about neuro-gastronomy of aroma perception in beer, or physics of carbonation or chemistry of mashing and malting, or false historic myths about IPAs and belgian beers - Randy seems to know it all, and know it well.This book is highly recommended, I believe it will surpass any other home-brew book and quickly become THE BIBLE of home brewers.This book is a great first read for beginner home brewers but at the same time could be an extremely useful reference for intermediate and even advanced brewers who have dozens of batches under their belt. Highly recommended

Fantastic, practical brewing book and very highly recommended. As a BJCP judge, I most appreciate Mosher's perspective on styles and formulating recipes. His approach should enlighten and enable the reader to understand styles and build recipes on their own, without using this or any other resource as a crutch. This book contains an excellent description of malt varieties--the best I've read for practicality. Mosher achieves his goal of getting the newbie up to speed quickly, but there is plenty in here for seasoned homebrewers, as well.He and Jim Koch, who wrote the forward, dispense some conflicting advice for new brewers, however: Koch urges newbies not to brew before reading the book (pg 13), but Mosher recommends brewing right away as an accompaniment to the text (pg 16). Take Mosher's advice.It could have used one last round of copy editing. I read this book cover-to-cover over about 2 weeks, and noticed the following errors, inconsistencies, and omissions:1. No explanation of why mash pH is important, despite stressing how important it is;2. No description of a triple decoction, despite noting that it takes 22 steps;3. No explanation of what lautering is, despite devoting a section to "Lautering and Sparging" on page 140. Also, there is no definition of it in the glossary;4. Crediting Garrett Oliver as the author of The Oxford Companion to Beer;5. Random photo of a carboy and keg washer on page 180 under "Wort Aeration" without any explanation;6. Illustrative photo of the Closed Wort-Transfer Method on page 221 omits the plastic carboy cap on the sanitized vessel;7. Categorizes American Cream Ale, Munich Dark Lager, Maibock, and several other styles as "Biere de Garde" on page 261;8. Writes that "highly flocculent strains are usually the most attenuative", and then writes that they are "the least attenuative" on page 272;9. Writes that the first Oktoberfest occurred in 1810 on page 281, then writes that it occurred in 1816 on page 301;10. Errors with Plato / OG conversion in recipes on pages 302 and 349;11. Emphasizes spice character of Saison but omits mention of fruitiness on page 309;12. Confusing explanation of alcohol by weight and volume on page 326 (probably a misplaced parenthesis that caused it);13. Listing a Wahl/Henius text from 1901 under "modern" resources and a 1902 text under "historical" resources.14. Mistakenly refers to a "flat switch" on page 170. This should be "float switch." Also, does not explain that using a grant and float switch is to avoid pumping wort directly from the lauter (or mash/lauter) tun, which can result in a stuck lauter or sparge due to compression in the grain bed.

Mosher does it again with Mastering Homebrew, though the title is a bit of a misnomer. This book would make an excellent replacement or substitute for Papazian's Joy of Homebrewing. Mastering Homebrew covers all the topics you need to get started, from ingredients and equipment to recipes and troubleshooting. There's even a very brief introductory section for first-time brewers who are chomping at the bit to put down the book and start brewing. Mosher teaches the best way possible, with minimal hand-holding and encourages readers to get out there and experiment, tweak, and find their own voice through their technique, equipment, and recipes. A graphic designer by trade, Mosher fills the book with beautiful charts that are as informative as they are eye-catching.However, the "Mastering" part is light. I've read dozens of brewing books and found this to be mid to low on the expertise spectrum. If you are looking for a good advanced brewing book, I'd recommend Strong's Brewing Better Beer and the Water/Hops/Yeast series (haven't tackled Malt yet). I'm still happy that I own this resource, even just for the recipes for more inspiration from homebrew's free spirit artist.
