I thought I was over vampire books, and am so pleased to say how much I enjoyed loved this introduction to a new series with a vamp H, and an interesting h. She has all sorts of issues, health, family, financial and has to go on the run with the H, who is somewhat bemused by her. Their attraction is hesitant for lots of reasons, but great steamy scenes all the same. There is so much story to come, yet I wasn't left feeling as if this was incomplete either. Great writing, great story and I am ready for the next book. I want more about this world, please!
Well, another book by Steffan but with her co-author which I have never read. I am a huge fan of R.A. but I am not such a great fan of vamps, therefore, I have not read the Circle of Blood series, consequently never read her co-author. That being said, I am in somewhat of a quandary as to how to review this new one. First, it is a very different take on vamps along with all of the other demonkin & fae persons involved. I very much liked the concept of the storyline of having an underworld simmering below the surface, very clever and explained well. Well, almost, therein being the thrust of the story. I like the grab there and it does hold your interest and of course I have already ordered the 2nd book. What I find missing is Steffan's signature wit and snarky banter that I love to death, scuse the pun. It is there somewhat but not like she usually has in her own novels. I am missing that very much. I will await the 2nd book to give a full review but will give a 3.5 stars for the time being. I await the next one and BTW if this one grabs me as I think it will, I will get the Circle of Blood series as well.
OMG! The Last Vampire, Ransley, is my new favorite vampire, well, along with Xander and Snag. Rans is delectable. It was love at first sight, er read, for me. He’s a reluctant warrior in an ongoing secret supernatural battle. Zorah is everything you want in a heroine-resourceful, able to think on her feet, brave, and of course, an emerging snarky badass. She has been alone most of her life, an outsider unable to find where she fits. Although Rans has many friends, he is also an outsider, the inexplicable last of his kind. They compliment each other perfectly. I am really looking forward to the next book. With The Last Vampire and Circle of Blood I’m back into vamps in a big way.
I think whomever wrote this book should be very proud of themselves. It’s a well-written story that has great character depth and leaves lots of questions. Unfortunately, I felt almost like it was a script. I couldn’t see the houses, feel the cars, or smell the outside. I couldn’t lose myself in the story. It’s a good purchase if you’re locked in the house all weekend with nothing to do.
"The Last Vampire" takes you on a ride. And wow -- what a ride! The first book in a series (and really, what book isn't part of a series nowadays?), it ends on a cliffhanger, but it's not too annoying. It naturally leads into the next book. It's told in the first person, and the main character cum narrator is hilarious. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments. There are also a lot of big reveals that kept me tearing through the book. Warning: this book contains graphic sex and a lot of f-bombs. If that offends you, then this book isn't for you. Sex, violence, and adult language don't bother me, and it was all quite well done. Looking for a new paranormal romance? Check this one out. I was pleasantly surprised.
You have to keep spending money to get whole story. That’s unfair to readers. Charge more for the books and put them together.
I am kind of tired of vampire books, but I really liked this one. The storyline is entertaining, grabbing and holding my attention through to the end. I found it hard to put this one down! The characters (and the primaries' relationship) develop through the story, without the author just telling you what they are and why they are. Yes, it is a cliffhanger, and it is hard not to buy the next book in the series, but it is so well written and edited ( I never noticed any spelling/grammar or other errors), that I didn't hesitate to buy the next one. I recommend this one!
I’ve read lots of vampire series, but I loved that this book was something new and fresh that I hadn’t read a hundred times before. I like the world the author created and the characters. I devoured this book in a night because I just couldn’t stop reading it. It does end with a cliffhanger, but I immediately purchased book 2 and can’t want to get back in it. My only complaint is, it could’ve been a bit longer, but the price makes them affordable to purchase the next book, so really no problem there. Rans is becoming my favorite vamp and I like the fact that Zorah isn’t a weak leading lady. Interesting story and I can’t wait to see how it ends.
