What can I say about Frank Dobie and his books on "Old Texas" and the West of yesteryear. The "greatest authority" on old Texas and the birth of the Cowboy in our nation. From Texas comes the cowboy, the tradition and the cattle that began the Wild and Wooly tales we all know so well. Frank Dobie is "the master" on the subject. I loved all his books and am still collecting them all.
They say that Texas is a state of mind. No doubt that Texas is different from any place on earth. And with any place that is unique comes with it the legends and stories that make it the unique place that it is. J. I have loved this book of "tall tales" since I was an early teen. I am in my 50's now and I still purchase copies of it for friends and relatives.

Another great book by Mr. Dobie! This one deals with how many old ledgends around Texas got started. Wish I had had the fortune of being able to know this man and talk with him!
Great! "Tell me a story, Mr. Dobie!" is what I say each night before I sit down with the book. I wish this book would continue on forever.
Very interesting stuff about early Texas. I loved it, and learned things about Texas I never heard about even though I lived in Texas for about four or five years. Happy trails!
